Freeport Peru Miners Cancel Jan. 14 Cerro Verde Strike

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. workers at the Cerro Verde copper mine in Peru voted against a plan to strike Jan. 14 after reaching a labor accord with the company, a union official said.
Freeport’s Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA, Peru’s third-largest copper miner, agreed on fully paid overtime, improved training and better health insurance, union General Secretary Leoncio Amudio said.
