Dong Energy A/S, Denmark’s largest energy company, and Scottish & Southern Energy Plc, the U.K.’s second-biggest power producer, said wind farms off the east and west coasts of England sent their first power to the U.K. grid.

The first of 51 turbines already installed in the sea at the Walney-1 wind farm west of Barrow-in-Furness exported power to the grid yesterday, Dong Energy said in a statement on its website. Another farm is planned there. Three turbines at the Greater Gabbard Farm east of Suffolk also began generating, SSE said today in a Regulatory News Service statement.
