Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karrubi said he is ready to stand trial over 2009 post-presidential election protests provided the judicial process is open to the public.

“I completely welcome this trial,” he said in comments published today on the Kaleme opposition website. “I am ready for it to be held. However, I have a request. The court should be open so the people, who are the true owners of the country, can listen to both parties and make their own judgment.”
