Hurricane Center Tracking Potential System in Caribbean Sea
A weather system in the eastern Caribbean Sea has a 10 percent chance of becoming a tropical cyclone, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
The storm is 50 miles (80 kilometers) east of Barbados and is producing rain and thunderstorms in the region, according to a hurricane center forecast issued at 8 a.m.
“This system could enhance rainfall and winds across portions of the Windward Islands today,” according to the statement.
The Atlantic hurricane season officially ended on Nov. 30 after producing 19 storms, the third-most on record, according to the Miami-based hurricane center.
