Gabon’s New Oil Field, Koula, Opened by President, L’Union Says

Gabon’s new oil field, Koula, near Mandji in the southwest of the African country, was inaugurated by President Ali Bongo Ondimba in a ceremony yesterday, L’Union reported.
The field operated by Royal Dutch Shell Plc’s Gabon unit has reserves estimated at 60 million barrels, the Libreville- based state-run newspaper said today. Koula, which began production on April 4, will pump as much as 22,000 barrels a day when it reaches its peak, according to Shell Gabon, the paper said.
