Slovak Parliament Backs Budget That Cuts Deficit to 4.9% of GDP

Slovakia’s parliament approved the 2011 state budget, cutting the fiscal shortfall in the east European euro-region member by more than a third.
Lawmakers voted 78-69 to back the spending plan, which sets the deficit at 3.8 billion euros ($5 billion), of 4.9 percent of gross domestic product, from an expected 7.8 percent this year.
