The International Finance Corp., the private investment-arm of the World Bank, said it is looking to fund the construction of toll roads in Africa to improve access to the continent’s fast-expanding cities.
The IFC is in talks with policy makers in Ghana to discuss two roads connecting the capital, Accra, with Kumasi and Cape Coast, the West African nation’s second- and third-largest cities, the fund’s infrastructure manager, Bertrand de la Borde, said in a Nov. 19 interview. The government may also widen the toll road between Accra and the port of Tema, he said.
