A World Bank-sponsored plan aims to reduce poverty in the most vulnerable parts of Africa and south Asia by 10 percent by helping farmers adapt to changes in the climate.

The 10-year program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security plan is due to be formally announced in Cancun, Mexico, where delegates from about 190 countries will meet from Nov. 29-Dec. 10 to negotiate measures to tackle global warming, according to an e-mailed statement from the climate group scientists. The plan has $206 million of funding for the first three years from the World Bank as well as developing nations including India, China and Brazil.
