Kia’s Third-Quarter Profit Jumps to Record on Sales

Kia Motors Co., South Korea’s second-biggest automaker, posted record quarterly profit in the third quarter as new models increased sales at home, in China and the U.S.

Net income surged 66 percent to 666.6 billion won ($593 million) in the three months ended Sept. 30 from 402 billion won a year earlier, the Seoul-based company said in a statement today. That beat the 504 billion won average of 16 analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales climbed 26 percent to 5.69 trillion won.
