Australian consumer confidence fell in September for the first time in three months as households expressed concern about the economic outlook over the next year.

The sentiment index dropped 5 percent to 113.2 points this month, according to a Westpac Banking Corp. and Melbourne Institute survey of 1,200 consumers conducted between Sept. 6 and Sept. 12 and released today in Sydney.
