Moscow Police Arrest 70 at Anti-Putin Rally, Ekho Moskvy Says

Moscow police arrested at least 70 anti-government protesters who were calling on Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s government to honor Russian citizens’ right to assemble, Ekho Moskvy radio station said.

More than a third of the 300 demonstrators were arrested, the Moscow radio station reported from the illegal rally in the center of the Russian capital today. Police spokesman Viktor Biryukov told Ekho Moskvy that 70 arrests were made and that there were three times as many journalists as protesters.
