The U.S. and Russia plan to open a cross-border nature preserve stretching from Alaska across the Bering Strait to northeastern Russia, Kommersant reported.

The so-called Bering Park is the revival of an idea first approved by U.S. President George H.W. Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990, the Moscow-based newspaper said, citing Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
