Ternium SA, Argentina’s largest steelmaker, will meet today with a truck drivers union in an attempt to resolve an eight-day protest blocking plants that is threatening a steel shortage for carmakers.

The meeting organized by Argentina’s labor ministry seeks to determine who will pay for social benefits owed to truckers by contractors, Diego Mandelman, the labor ministry’s spokesman, said today in a telephone interview from Buenos Aires. He did not specify the amount of the outstanding trucker benefits.
