The German government has rejected demands by nuclear power utilities on how to tax and extend the operating lives of reactors, Financial Times Deutschland said, citing unidentified people close to the government.

The government wants to set terms of the planned extension and future safety standards in law rather than in a contract with the companies, the German newspaper reported, according to the e-mailed copy of an article that will appear in today’s edition.
