American International Group Inc., the insurer majority-owned by the U.S., may sell debt as returns on corporate bonds exceed those on government securities.

AIG may sell bonds to help repay its government bailout, the New York-based company said in an Aug. 9 registration statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
