America’s accounting executives grew more pessimistic about the outlook for the U.S. economy, a survey showed.

Forty percent of respondents were pessimistic, up from 25 percent in May, according to the survey by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Twenty-one percent expressed optimism, down from 40 percent in the prior quarterly poll and the lowest level since April 2009.
