Coca-Cola Amatil Surges in Sydney as Profit Increases

Coca-Cola Amatil Ltd., Australia’s biggest soft-drink maker, gained the most in a year in Sydney trading after the company said profit rose on higher prices and demand for more profitable products.
The beverage maker, 30 percent owned by Atlanta-based Coca- Cola Co., gained 4.2 percent to A$11.72 at the 4:10 p.m. close of trading in Sydney, the stock’s largest gain since Aug. 6, 2009. First-half net income rose 12 percent from a year earlier to A$212.7 million ($190 million).
