Western Refining Inc. will idle its Yorktown, Virginia, refinery because of a “poor outlook for East Coast refining margins,” the company said in a second-quarter earnings statement.

The decision to suspend refining operations was “driven by the ongoing challenging refining margin environment experienced on the East Coast, the continued low price differentials between light/heavy crudes, and poor coking economics,” Chief Executive Officer Jeff Stevens said in the statement.
