China Kindergarten Attack Leaves 9 Dead, Xinhua Says

A man killed seven children at a kindergarten in northwestern China’s Shaanxi province in the latest of a series of attacks on schools in the nation that has left more than a dozen students dead this year.
Wu Huanming attacked a privately run kindergarten in Shaanxi’s Nanzheng County at about 8 a.m. local time today armed with a cleaver, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing the Shaanxi Provincial Emergency Office. The 48-year-old attacker also killed two teachers and injured 11 other students before killing himself, according to the English-language Xinhua report.
