Trump Keeps Making the Case for Impeachment

Removing the president would be harmful. But Trump seems determined to force the issue.

Still obstructing.

I was planning to avoid writing about impeachment for a while because my Bloomberg Opinion colleague Francis Wilkinson nailed it recently when he explained that even though House Democrats (or at least their leadership) really don’t want to go down that road, the facts may not give them much of a choice.

That’s consistent with what I’ve been saying: President Donald Trump has already done enough, in terms of abusing his power and obstructing justice, to justify impeachment and removal. But he hasn’t done enough, at least from what we’ve seen so far, to make it absolutely necessary. And given how vague the constitutional description of impeachment is, we’re better off if the House avoids it when possible.
