Oct. 18 (Bloomberg) -- There continues to be a forcefuleconomic debate about the cost of financial companies that areregarded -- by officials and by credit markets -- as “too bigto fail.”

There is no doubt that, during the severe crisis of fall2008, the executives running these companies felt intensepressure and that responsible officials felt these institutionsrequired huge amounts of government support.
