Market Record Shows How to Get to Dow 36,000

March 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Dow Jones Industrial Average seta record this week, but it’s still far from the mark thateconomist Kevin Hassett and I forecast in our 1999 book, “Dow36,000.”
We wrote in the introduction that “it is impossible topredict how long it will take” to get to 36,000. Then, in thesame paragraph, we rashly made a guess anyway: “between threeand five years.”
