Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Regardless of whether Mitt Romney orBarack Obama wins the presidential election Tuesday night, oneof the first orders of business will be to repair the deep riftbetween Washington and Wall Street.

Plenty of Americans may feel that the antagonism betweenthe two is useful -- and lord knows there have been times inrecent history when the relationship between the power centersin Washington and New York City has been unbearably cozy. Yetthe truth is that America functions best when Wall Street andWashington have a symbiotic -- rather than adversarial --relationship.
