America’s love affair with entrepreneurship complicates anyattempt to mount an effective European-style war of have-notsagainst haves. To be successful, the new economic populists mustconnect their message with the American embrace of those, likeJobs, who become rich by improving our economy and the world. Tobe wise, the advocates of free markets should worry more aboutensuring economic opportunity for all.
