Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The Philippines can be ascandalmonger’s paradise. At this very moment, editors arepressed to decide which controversy goes on the front page: thesuicide story, the car scam, Chopper-gate or the asylum follies.
Each of them sells newspapers and each is linked to acentral figure: Gloria Arroyo, who until June 2010 was president.Arroyo’s successor, Benigno Aquino, is pursuing her oncorruption allegations and the campaign’s success will say muchabout whether the Philippines moves ahead or becomes an even-less-significant draw for investors than it already is.
