Turkey is ready to cooperate with Russia and Iran as well as the U.S. to confront Islamist militants in Syria’s Idlib, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Tuesday, as he sought to prevent a major offensive against the country’s last rebel stronghold.

“If the concern is the presence of terrorist groups, let’s work together to eliminate them. Why do we have to kill so many civilians?” Cavusoglu said at a press conference with his Romanian and Polish counterparts in Bucharest. Turkey is prepared to join “with all partners and actors in Syria,” he said.
