Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the Trump White House on Monday will give him an opportunity to divert attention from a widening corruption probe to a stage where he can showcase achievements.

But while he’s sure to trumpet successes such as winning U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, behind the scenes he’ll be struggling to muster U.S. support on a much more urgent issue: keeping Iran and its proxies in check across the northern border with Syria.
