Theresa May refused to be drawn on how she would vote if a second referendum on European Union membership were held now, a missed opportunity for the prime minister to scotch growing speculation in Brussels that the U.K. could change its mind.

Asked in a television interview on France 2 if she would vote for Brexit in a second plebiscite, May said: "No, I didn’t say how I would vote.”
