National Security Agency chief Mike Rogers met behind closed doors Monday night with the Senate Intelligence Committee, one day before Attorney General Jeff Sessions is expected to appear publicly before the panel to explain his role in the firing of James Comey and contacts that he and associates of President Donald Trump had with Russian officials.

Senators made clear they want Rogers to answer questions about any possible interference by Trump in the FBI’s investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election. He and Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats refused to answer those questions last week in a public hearing.
