Scott Pruitt was confirmed by the Senate and sworn in as head of the Environmental Protection Agency, positioning the fierce critic of Obama-era climate rules to begin undoing them.
Pruitt took the oath of office at the White House Friday afternoon just hours after the Republican-controlled Senate cleared his nomination by a vote of 52-46. All but two Democrats present opposed his nomination, arguing he would undermine the agency’s core mission of safeguarding the air and water.
