My big question ahead of the state banquet in Beijing on Thursday evening is not about the words that will be exchanged between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping or whether that “big, fat hug” will actually happen. No, I’m wondering what the heck these two are going to eat. Food diplomacy is endlessly fascinating! Back when Janet Yellen was Treasury secretary, she accidentally ate hallucinogenic mushrooms in Beijing and started a culinary craze in China. Who knows what might happen on this trip.
