Dana White Is Pushing a Muhammad Ali Bill That Hurts Fighters

Dana White, the brash promoter who turned mixed martial arts into a global television phenomenon, believes boxing is a mess. He’s not wrong: Ask a casual sports fan who the heavyweight champion of the world is and you’ll probably get a blank stare.

That’s why White is now pressing Congress to adopt the Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act of 2026, a set of regulatory changes that would make the sport more attractive to spectators. Those same changes would also give promoters like him greater control over fighters’ careers.
