US-Style Culture Wars Are Coming for France

French corporate raider Vincent Bollore has been compared to Rupert Murdoch for his appetite for buying up media brands, steering them to the right and using them to gain influence — generating controversies, fines and a roster of pundits known collectively as the “Bollosphere.”

Now, as presidential elections loom in France, it seems the billionaire is walking the kind of theologically driven path more closely associated with US Vice President JD Vance or investor Peter Thiel. His new Christian-inspired think tank, whose manifesto was revealed by Bloomberg News recently, carries the hallmarks of a civilizational mission and Project 2025-style policy blueprint, advocating public spending cuts, a rollback of abortion protections and measures to curb immigration.
