Controversy and some clear demonstration of ineptitude follow them into the hearing, with a smattering of discontent and concern among President Donald Trump’s allies. During the hearing there is defiance, bombast and exaggeration.
After the hearing, the official emerges unscathed and perhaps even stronger.
