Congress Already Knows How to Help Ukraine

In an ideal world, the US would back Ukraine to the hilt. In this world, it could at least help Ukraine as it has for decades supported Taiwan.

Try a firmer grip.

Now that the hype about this month’s Ukraine summitry has passed, it’s time to take stock and think about next steps. The first question is whether the shows that US President Donald Trump staged in Alaska and Washington left the overall situation — the problem of how to end Russia’s war against Ukraine — better, unchanged, or worse. The follow-on, if you’re in Washington, is what the US should do next.

So I asked Philip Gordon. He was the top foreign-policy counselor to Kamala Harris and, if she had won last year’s presidential election, would now be national security advisor, in place of Marco Rubio.
