In one of the more blatantly political moves in an election season filled with them, the top elected officials in Nebraska tried to suppress voter turnout by blocking a law that would allow thousands of residents with prior felony convictions to vote in November.

Thankfully, the Nebraska Supreme Court short-circuited the attempt by Republican Attorney General Mike Hilgers and Republican Secretary of State Robert Evnen, and upheld the law that provides a process for formerly incarcerated Nebraskans to register to vote once their sentences are completed.
