Burger King’s New Moms Ad Deserves Praise, Not Outrage
Women can make their own choices about what to eat after giving birth — and any other time.
A different kind of bundle of joy.

Each time I gave birth, I requested that my parents show up at the hospital not with a stuffed animal or cute baby outfit for their new grandchild but with a bagel and lox for me.
Ask any new mom, and she’ll have her own version of a bagel and lox — a food on the pregnancy no-no list that she craved but denied herself so as not to jeopardize the health of her unborn baby, no matter how small the risk. (Lox is historically taboo because of listeria concerns.) After going through the pain and mental, physical and emotional exhaustion of childbirth, that first meal of whatever food you’ve been deprived of for months will be among the best of your life.
