Cancun’s Troubles Go Beyond Mexico’s Super Peso

This was a rough summer for Cancun.

Latin America’s top tourist destination suffered a surprising slump during a key holiday season. International passengers at the Cancun airport dropped almost 14% in July and August compared with the previous year, deepening a decline started in April. Americans, by far the largest group of foreign travelers to Mexico’s enchanting Caribbean beaches, overwhelmingly picked Europe as their preferred leisure spot.
