Ohio Supreme Court Allows Voters to Be Deceived

The state’s high court approved language on an anti-gerrymandering ballot initiative that distorts the measure's intention.

“Orwell himself would have trouble topping the efforts of the Ohio Ballot Board.”

So reads the first sentence of an amicus brief filed by election law experts with the Ohio Supreme Court. As their brief explained, the Ohio Ballot Board, which is required by law to draft ballot language that “fairly and accurately” reflects the intent of state ballot initiatives, has done exactly the opposite.
