Israel is at yet another strategic crossroads. The nation was viciously attacked last October by an implacable terrorist group. Its military response, while at dreadful cost to the civilians in Gaza, has been appropriate for the threat to its existence. It feels it is very close to success in destroying Hamas as a credible fighting organization, probably within a few months.
The question for Israelis is what comes next. What should a military and diplomatic strategy look like projected out over the next year? Over the next five years?
