If Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, manage to win in November, many will undoubtedly look back on last week’s Democratic National Convention as the turning point.

But for the swing states of Arizona and Nevada, the turning point for Democrats may have come before the convention even began — back when Harris announced her aspirational, if vague plan to make housing more affordable.
