Three big jobs in the UK investment industry are vacant, including the chief executive officer role at two listed fund managers. But who would want to take on this thankless task given the dire state of active investing?

Schroders Plc, with £760 billion ($984 billion) under management, is seeking a replacement for Peter Harrison who retires next year. Abrdn Plc, which oversees £508 billion, is looking to appoint a permanent CEO after Stephen Bird left in May, prompting finance director Jason Windsor to step up for now.
