Financial journalism can feel bloodless, if not tasteless, at times like this. Finance is rightly far down our list of priorities when lives have been lost and an event with horrifying implications for society has happened. However, shocking events like the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump are bound to have financial effects, which will matter. Further, it’s my job to cover them.
