Dollar Hegemony Is Here to Stay, for Worse and (Mostly) Better
The US dollar is to world trade and finance what money is to barter, and the only threat to its dominance is American dysfunction.

Yet another reason why Kevin McCarthy deserved to be ousted as speaker of the US House of Representatives is that he’s guilty of causing “de-dollarization globally that will crush Americans, working-class Americans.”
That, at least, is what Republican Congressman and chaos agent Matt Gaetz claimed to a gaggle of reporters on the steps outside the US Capitol. Moments earlier, Gaetz had stuck a fork in Kevin McCarthy’s speakership and was now basking in the attention of an uncomprehending public.
