Getting So Much Better, But Not Enough to Stop a Rate Hike

Inflation finally drops to target territory, but there’s little chance the Fed will back off a much-prepared increase. Maybe the next one?

US inflation is coming down, and deeper dives into the data don’t dispel that notion. That is by far the most important lesson from the Consumer Price Index numbers for June, and it’s led some markets to rejoice, while leaving others unmoved.
