As Kevin McCarthy’s bid to claim the speaker’s gavel smacks into a brick wall, Greene, the far-right Georgia congresswoman famous for spouting Q-Anon conspiracy theories and speculating that space lasers caused forest fires, has become the unlikely figure pointing out that the hardliners tormenting McCarthy are undermining their own party. “They’re proving to the country that they don’t care about doing the right thing for America,” she said on Sunday. “They're proving to the country that they’re just destructionists.”
