France has the highest level of vaccine distrust in the world. Will the coronavirus change that?

Trust in vaccines has fallen in many regions around the world over the past decade, and in 2019, the World Health Organization identified vaccine hesitancy (“the delay in acceptance or refusal of vaccines despite the availability of vaccination services”) as one of the top 10 global health threats. It remains to be seen whether the very present threat of Covid-19 alters these rates — if and when an effective vaccine is discovered.
