Making Medical School Free Is No Cure-All

There are better ways to treat the profession’s ills.

Earlier this month, the New York University School of Medicine announced that it would offer free tuition for its current and future students, making it the only top-ranked medical school in the nation to do so.

It’s an admirable and generous decision. The only problem is that it may not have its intended effect.
