Who Takes the Bus or Train? Not Many Americans
Elon Musk's disdain for it aside, public transportation is simply not an option for most.

Given that Musk has in recent years offered himself up as a potential savior of rapid transit with his notions of a "hyperloop" speeding people under and between major cities, this didn't go over super-well in some circles.
