The Ukrainian Argument for Scottish Independence

The short-term economic pain of quitting the U.K. may be worth it.

Now that the U.K. has formally triggered Brexit and the Scottish Parliament has voted in favor of seeking a second independence referendum, the battle lines are drawn. The Scottish nationalists led by Nicola Sturgeon are telling Theresa May's U.K. government that they'd rather be in the European Union than an independent U.K. But, after failing to make an economic case for independence in 2014, nationalists should stress the long view.
